-And why do you want to become a director?
-Excuse me, but don’t you ever lie?
-Sometimes…I do.
-So do I, but the difference is that when I do so, I want to express it through images!
I really can’t tell whether my answer had convinced my professor at school for the rightness of my choice to become a director but I definitely made him believe that even for a few seconds, I had said something “important” in a short period of time. That is I believe also the meaning of directing TV commercials. To be able to depict cine-matically, in a short period of time, a realistic (or not) story, with the best possible aesthetic approach, and why not, with the lowest possible cost! And concerning direction in general. If you know how to direct, it doesn’t matter if you know anything else, but if you don’t, then knowing doesn’t make any difference whatsoever…
